Four stars may seem a bit high for an economy generator. However, I'm giving it this rating based not only on its performance, but how little I had to pay for it compared to a "high-end" unit.
I bought this puppy on a whim in the beginning of the summer thinking it would be great for flea markets and the like. It sat in the garage till this last week when Irene came plowing thru New Jersey and took away my electric and water service and flodded my basement in its wake.
For 5 days, my UST GG2300 kept my Fridge, a Chest Freezer, the Sump Pump, a couple of CFL Bulbs, my Computer and the 52" LCD TV cranking away. And as a result it allowed my family of four to weather the storm and its aftermath in relative comfort.
I was very protective of it and turned it off mid-day for about 2 hours and during each night for about 4 or 5. It burned about 5 gallons of gas and an ounce of oil each day.
I just now came back in from doing an oil change, cleaning the air filter, and adding a bit of gas stabilizer. As I did the maintenance I realized how much I appreciated the service this little genny provided my family, and decided to post this review.
At the price these sell for, it should be a no-brainer having one on hand in case of an emergency.
UPDATE AS OF 11/2011... Well NJ got hit with the "Great October Snowstorm of 2011". This time we were without power for 8 long days! Ran the genny from 7AM till 12 Midnight each day without a a single break. Gave us perfect service without any issues at all. It powered my gas furnace, refridgerator, entertainment system (52" LCD), computer system, and a couple of CFL lights all at the same time. Thinking of upgrading to a larger unit that I could set up with a transfer-switch into my breaker panel, but this unit will always remain on hand as well.

Got a UST 2300 from a friend. It is an inexpensive chinesse genset. Not as loud as I would have expected. Runs forever on little fuel, like 4 or 5 hours per gallon. An important consideration, if you would use this over several days. My friend always ran synthetic oil, and says to check the oil everytime you add gas. Note, do not add gas while the generator is running. Tempted to buy another one, but this UST 2300W is still running strong after 200 hours of use. The small motor is easy to start, even in cold weather.
